A man identified as 'So Sweet' on his Twitter handle has passed a filthy comment about Ghanaian broadcast journalist Miss Anita Akuffo on his Twitter wall yesterday, on the 1st May 2025. According to the filthy comment passed by the guy, The surname 'Akuffo' on Anita Akuffo is a curse on the nation. This sparked an angry reaction from Anita Akuffo with the beautiful journalist referring to him as an 'idiot'. This incidence happened when Anita Akuffo snapped a picture of herself in judges' outfit as a way to celebrate the Workers Day. While many people praised her for her stunning look, that guy took to his Twitter handle to insult the beautiful journalist.
It can be inferred from his comment that he has developed a feeling of hatred for the Former President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, and has associated this feeling of hate with the surname of the Former President, hence he sees the name 'Akufo' as a 'curse' on Ghana. Consequently, since Anita Akufo shares the same surname with the former President of the republic, hence the attack on Anita by the guy.
The implication of this dirty comment laid down by the guy is that the former Chief Justice of the republic of Ghana, Her Ladyship Sophia Akufo is also a curse upon the nation, and also any other person by surname Akufo is also a curse upon the nation. This statement is not merely an attack on the broadcast journalist and the former President, but then, it is also an attack on persons that guy might not have an acquaintance with.
Today, where there is poliferation and fast development of computer technologies, especially social media handle, any ordinary 'idiot' in Anita Akufo's words just create an account, buy cheap data to insult people they have never met before. If you hate the president for whatever reason, probably because of bad governance, then argue your point based in fact and relevance. But then, to project that hatred on another figure who might be well-to-do than you due to some similarity shared between them is below the belt and an uncivilized act in todays modern day and age.
Today insults have become the food that we consume on social media day in day out, and it is time for companies that regulate social media handles to institute harsh punishment upon perpetrators of this uncivilized and senseless act.
