Alabaster International Ministry founder Prophet Kofi Oduro has made a shocking statement about the current state of the economy. According to the renowed prophet, the sitting president of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has to cater for the needs of all sixteen regions, and that he needs to be shown pity by Ghanaians. However, the renowned pastor was previously known by many Ghanaians to be someone who frequently attacked President Nana Akufo-Addo and his government for what he takes to be an example of poor governance.

The contrasting statements he made about both the previous and current government has made some Ghanaians to voice out their disappointment towards him, with some of them referring to him as a hypocrite. Whiles, others have launched unprintable words on the renowed pastor for his utterance about the current governance. Other stated that he was a principal contributory factor to the 2024 election loss of the NPP government, since he fooled his congregants to make biased decisions during the 2024 general elections.

I share the same sentiment with these people regarding his biased utterances about the current government. During NPP reign from 2017 through 2020 to 2024, Ghana was also divided into sixteen regions yet the reverend minister unleased attack on the Akufo-Addo government, without taking into consideration the pain the government have to go through to cater for the 16 regions of the country. Yet, this pastor is using the excuse of 16 regions to justify the probable poor governance of the current government. Why should you attack one government and defend another government, whiles both administer 16 regions of the country?

This statement is very unfortunate and unfair to the NPP government. I perfectly know that during Prez. Akufo-Addo's regime, dollar was depreciating at a faster rate and inflation was moving too high, but the current Prez. Mahama's administration couldn't be spared from blames about irritating power outages people across the country experience and then the fact that there is a very slow progress of infrastructural development. Why are you not criticizing all these, or you want to tell the good people of Ghana that 'dumsor' is a good situation for all people to embrance? Never. Or maybe you have been bribed to defend the NDC government? (Just asking).

Today, the revered office of a reverend minister has been subjected to an office of ridicule and mockery. Day in day out pastors are losing respect, because of how some pastors conduct themselves in the eyes of the public. Morality calls for an objective assessment of what is right and what is wrong. And defending the wrongdoings of one government and lashing out at the wrongdoings of the other government is a very serious case of a dishonourable act.

The problem is not with a reverend minister supporting a political party. Of course, a pastor has the right to vote. Rather the problem here is with a reverend minister becoming biased and prejudiced with his assessment of a country's governance. As the saying goes, what is good for the goose is also good for the gander. And so if you are able to criticise the wrong doings of one government, then you should be able to also criticise the wrong doings of the other government.
